TEAM OMAA students and coach head to Puerto Rico for training camp.
Team OMAA members Scott, Kian, Jack, Taylor, and team coach Dave Lutes return from San Juan Puerto Rico after a weeklong training camp. The camp was intense as the members awoke daily at 7:00 a.m. for a 45 minute run along the beaches followed with water resistance training, forms, and speed drills until noon. A few hours of rest after lunch was the only break these members had before driving to Black Beast Tae Kwon Do, an affiliate school of OMAA’s owned and operated in Puerto Rico by Master Ruben Ayala. Black Beast Tae Kwon Do is Puerto Rico’s largest school with over 300 students; some of which are internationally recognized in their competitions and certifications. Here the team trained until 8:00 p.m. alongside students and instructors of Master Ruben. The training and sparring was outstanding as OMAA students where welcomed into the school as one of their own. The day would usually end with a visit to one of Puerto Rico’s extensive restaurants.
Thursday night was an exceptional experience as Black Beast hosted a mini exhibition tournament between Team OMAA and Black Beast. Both schools cheered on their teams as chants (USA – USA and Puerto Rico – Puerto Rico) where exchanged between the two schools as the matches where fought. In the end both schools won as friendships where built and appreciation was transferred between the two schools.

Although training was priority, rest and relaxation where added into the week as well. The team enjoyed the many wonders of Puerto Rico as visits to the fort El Morro as well as visits to the beach. The team ended the week by chartering a boat and visiting a coral reef just off the cost. In all it was a very successful camp. Much was learned and friendships where built. The kids that attended this trip are posting their comments as well. See below

Scott's reflections on Puerto Rico
The first word that comes to my mind to sum up the trip is: UNEBELIEVABLE The best part of the trip was: Going to the training center every night and working out with Master Reuben's school. The hardest part of the trip was: Sparring the competitors from Master Reuben's school. The part of the training in Puerto Rico that I will take to my OMAA training is: Definitely the cone and hoop drills... those were my favorites. What I wish we would’ve done more of was: More kicking drills. When there are only like 5 people they can be really fun... Any other comments or thoughts on the trip: I think the only thing that could of been better was if Mr. Dave's GPS would actually work and keep us from getting lost...

Jack's refelction on Puerto Rico
The first word that comes to mind to sum up the trip: Different The best part of the trip was: Snorkeling. The hardest part of the trip was: Running. The part of the training that I will take to my OMAA training is: Respect What I wish we would've done more of was: Finding our way around. Any other thoughts or comments on the trip: You don't know it but when you get back you will be tired. I slept till noon the following week.
